Welcome to our staff picks series! Next up is Nina, our Graphic Designer. Read on to find out a little more about Nina and the Joanie pieces she’s loving right now.

We devised this staff picks series to give you a glimpse into Joanie HQ and the brilliant individuals that make up our small and passionate team!

Find out about the people behind our brand and their roles at Joanie, as well as the pieces they’re currently coveting from our collection.

Meet Nina, Graphic Designer

Hi Nina! Tell us about your role at Joanie - what does a typical day look like?

I’ve been working at Joanie for almost 3 months now – so I’m a newbie! My main job role is creating assets for the website, email, and social media. I also work on branding projects, like creating logos for upcoming collaborations - we have some amazing stuff in the pipeline! As well as this, I’ve been illustrating all the new staff avatars - these are the little illustrations you see of each team member. Mine is at the top of this blog post! So to answer the question, my typical day will probably be a combination of these things, as well as a few meetings here and there.

What’s the best bit about your job?

I really love anything to do with illustration, whether that’s illustrating the staff avatars or using our amazing print designs on web banners and Instagram posts! I think it makes such a difference as a designer when the content you’re working with is so creative and colourful.

Aside from my role as a designer, I’d say the Joanie team is the best bit about the job. Everyone is so supportive and friendly, and it’s overall just a great environment to work in.

Can you describe yourself in three words?

Creative, sociable and… I can’t think of another, but I have been told I’m very chilled, which I’m not sure I agree with!

How would you define your personal style?

This is a hard question to answer… My style is pretty varied and changeable, but I do tend to be drawn to bold colours and retro prints. There’s also a hint of Scandi in there too.

Staff Picks: Nina's Favourites

I’ve picked out five of my favourite pieces available on the site at the moment – some of these I have already, and others are definitely on my wishlist!

Priya Vintage Floral Print Puff Sleeve Midi Dress

I love the bold floral print, and the fit is so flattering. Plus, green is my favourite colour, so it ticks all the boxes!

Mork Vintage Floral Print Short Sleeve Boilersuit

Jumpsuits, in general, are a great choice as they’re a ready-made outfit, but you still look like you’ve made an effort. Minimal effort and maximum impact is a concept I’m firmly here for. And this one, in particular, is super comfy with just the right amount of stretch, and the print is so pretty.

Garda Floral Print Quilted Hanging Wash Bag

I was so happy when we released this product as it was exactly what I’d been looking for. It’s the perfect travel bag with loads of space for all your makeup and toiletries, and the hanger means it’s not taking up all the space on your bathroom unit. I also love that this is made from deadstock fabric!

Dawn O’Porter X Joanie - Sangria Poppy Print Ruffle Midaxi Dress

I think this is the perfect wedding guest dress - and just look at those sleeves! The tie waist makes it a really nice shape without being uncomfortable too.

Fonda Stripe Square Neck Belted Swimsuit

Even though I’m usually a bold-colours kinda gal, I do love a monochrome stripe too! I love the chic retro vibes of this swimsuit – it looks like it belongs on a yacht in the French Riviera.
