Welcome to our staff picks series! Next up is Sarah, our Designer. Read on to find out a little more about Sarah and the Joanie pieces she’s loving right now.

We devised this staff picks series to give you a glimpse into Joanie HQ and the brilliant individuals that make up our small and passionate team!

Find out about the people behind our brand and their roles at Joanie, as well as the pieces they’re currently coveting from our collection.

Meet Sarah, Designer

Hi Sarah! Tell us about your role at Joanie - what does a typical day look like?

Hiya, I’m a designer at Joanie! My days can vary quite a bit - most of the time I'll be working on Illustrator or Photoshop, designing products and prints we think you’ll love months in advance of launch. On the other days I’ll be in fit meetings with our Production Team making sure everything looks and fits great!

What’s the best bit about your job?

I love all bits of my job! It’s super rewarding seeing your designs go from an initial idea or drawing with print strike offs and lovely little trims to a real-life garment looking fab on the site and on you lovely lot out in the wild. It’s a pleasure to work as part of a super talented team!

Can you describe yourself in three words?

Erratic, Satirical, Determined.

How would you define your personal style?

I will not sacrifice comfort, but I think I have quite a diverse style. I LOVE my beige mom jeans (must dig those back out for spring…), a plain, black, boxy tee and a cheeky pair of Crocs (much to everyone’s dismay) - comfort is king.

I also have a trusty old pair of mid-wash dungarees that I’m always reaching for with literally anything underneath. I also love a flowy midi dress or midi skirt and have quite the collection of pleather jackets to layer over. Anything looks great with a bright white dad trainer.

Staff Picks: Sarah's Favourites

I’ve picked out five of my favourite pieces available on the site at the moment – some of these I have already, and others are definitely on my wishlist!

Robin Short Sleeve Collared Boilersuit

Yes, please, I’ll take it in both colours! I already have the mid-wash denim Robin, and it’s super versatile and very, very comfortable. Great for layering a high neck, long sleeve knit in winter, or just wearing solo in summer. It’s also SUPER SOFT with a peachy wash on the fabric. Boilersuits are so easy to wear, and I’ve never seen anyone that didn’t look great in one!

Powers Floral Marigold Print Flared Trousers

Currently, I’m well into a knitted trouser, and these Jacquard Flares are INCREDIBLE. High-waisted with an elasticated back channel, full-length leg (which doesn’t bag at the knees!!!) with a flared hem. Right up my street. Whether you’re confident in the bright, bold Marigold print or super into a mono Daisy, there’s something for everyone with these guys! Honourable mention to the matching mini – Tate. Also incredible.

Ernie Organic Cotton Cat Print Pyjamas

The cat's pyjamas, literally. I’m a cat mum, and I love being comfortable, so it would be difficult not to love these guys. A super fun print (just loads of cats on a bright ground colour – I’m in.) in breathable organic cotton! If you’re not keen on cats, we also have dogs, monkeys, and dinosaurs… we’ve got everyone covered.

Albertine Floral Faces Print Midaxi Dress

A conversational print on an incredible shape. Albertine truly has it all - tie waist, elasticated shirring in the back, wrap over front bodice, midaxi length and POCKETS. It’s the go-to one-and-done style, dressed up with a heel or dressed down with a pair of trainers. Either way, I can guarantee it’ll look fantastic.

Mork Vintage Floral Print Short Sleeve Boilersuit

I will never not go back to this guy. I know I’ve already got a boilersuit in my round-up, but Mork is an absolute staple in my wardrobe. I have it in multiple colours, and you bet I’ll be knocking about in this showstopping print very soon.
