Uwagba speaks frankly and openly about money and the challenges that come with not having enough of it while simultaneously exploring class, race, and gender by considering her own life as a child of immigrant parents who attended a prestigious private school on a scholarship.

This work is as personal as it is political, with Uwagba reflecting on her time at Oxford, starting a graduate job in 2008 at the height of a global recession, toxic workplace culture, freelancing, negotiating pay raises, and even buying a home in London without parental help.

A combination of an extended memoir combined with personal essays, this book is thought-provoking, confronting, and a perfect choice for anybody who wants to start their New Year reading off on a high!
