Welcome to our staff picks series! Next up is Lauren, our Production Manager. Read on to find out a little more about Lauren and the Joanie pieces she’s loving right now.

We devised this staff picks series to give you a glimpse into Joanie HQ and the brilliant individuals that make up our small and passionate team!

Find out about the people behind our brand and their roles at Joanie, as well as the pieces they’re currently coveting from our collection.

Meet Lauren, Production Manager

Hi Lauren! Tell us about your role at Joanie - what does a typical day look like?

I’ve been at Joanie for over six years now, and it’s been really amazing to watch the company grow the way it has. Obviously, growing a business usually means more products to manage! So I guess you could say each day is fairly busy for me.

My job is to make sure any new designs handed over to our team are well interpreted to our factories and the outcome is a lovely product we think you’ll love!

There’s lots that goes on in between that. Creating size specs, fit sessions on models, and fabric development - we try and take what we’ve already got and make it better for you, the customer, and its environmental impact.

Ultimately, managing the sampling process and making sure each season's styles are on time for the planned launch dates is the aim of the game.

What’s the best bit about your job?

Erm, I think it’s hard to pick one part, but if I had to, it would be working on developing the product in fit sessions with the designers. The little detective emoji would be happening now if It could - haha!

Can you describe yourself in three words?

Sorry, I can’t do it, haha!

How would you define your personal style?

Hmm - boring, probably!

Generally I’d say if its denim, well, that’s for me. Also i’m a big fan of an aran and Guernsey jumper right now and a fleece(s)! Both Marilyn Monroe and Nastassja Kinski (on the set of Paris, Texas) do the big jumper and jeans combination very well (probably helps if you look like those two, though, which I don’t!).

Staff Picks: Lauren's Favourites

I’ve picked out five of my favourite pieces available on the site at the moment – some of these I have already, and others are definitely on my wishlist!

Lafayette High Waist Wide Leg Jeans

Denim's my favourite because it just looks good with any other colour, so one of my top picks has to be something indigo. These have a really good deep indigo colour and combine all the things I would want in a pair of jeans - wide leg, high waist, stretch, and they have big patch pockets! They’ll pretty much go with anything. Including something like…

Brekkie Breakfast Club Slogan Tee

…. Brekkie! This vintage-style Breakfast Club Tee combines two of my favourite things - Cute things and breakfast. What’s not to love about this t-shirt?!

Brittany Breton Stripe Jumper

This chunky ribbed fisherman jumper inspired by a classic marinière is next on my list. Perfect for a day on the deck or just wandering around town! I love the side hem splits & the dropped-back hem and functional buttons at the shoulder make it more relaxed. This will be worn a lot - probably with some denim again!

Aphrodite Choose Love Slogan Knit

Says it all on the front! Spread the message with this iconic ‘CHOOSE LOVE’ logo jumper and help provide support for refugees and displaced people. 100% of the profits from each sale go towards the Choose Love charity!

Dawn O’Porter X Joanie - Sazerac Cabbage Floral Print Midaxi Dress

Even though I mostly wear jeans, I do love a bold print! A move on from Dawn O'Porter X Joanie Sunrise Dress that I got last season, Sazerac is my new DOP X JOANIE favourite. Just look at those sleeves!
