Meet Charlie, Content Coordinator

Hi Charlie! Tell us about your role at Joanie - what does a typical day look like?

My role at Joanie varies a lot day-to-day which I really enjoy. There’s typically lots of writing involved, which I love doing, particularly here on the blog! The entire Joanie team is so lovely and great to work with, I started at the beginning of this year, and it’s been really easy to settle in and get to know everyone!

What’s the best bit about your job?

I genuinely enjoy my job, which is such a nice feeling. Being able to interview different authors about upcoming releases and books they’re promoting is great – there’s lots more of that coming soon, so keep an eye on the blog if you’re interested!

Can you describe yourself in three words?

I'd probably have to go with 'really into cats' – pretty much every other thought I have concerns Stella, my beautiful fluffy princess angel!

How would you define your personal style?

My barometer for fashion is firmly set in 2012, so if my 14-year-old self would have worn it, I'm probably still wearing it now! In an ideal world, I would dress like Alexa Ching circa 2010 or Zoe Kravitz in the new High Fidelity, but unlike those women, most of my clothes are ill-fitting and un-ironed.

Narrowing down my list of favourite Joanie pieces to only five has been SO difficult, especially with all of the great summer stuff currently on the site – not to mention the Dawn O’Porter X Joanie collaboration that’s just launched!

I’ve been eyeing Latoya up for a while! It’s the kind of jumpsuit that I can see myself wearing throughout summer and into winter with some chunky boots, and the ECOVERO™ cheesecloth material looks so convincingly vintage that I almost can’t believe it’s not actually from the ‘90s.

Strawberries are by far my favourite fruit, so this tee is a no-brainer for me. I feel like you can never have too many t-shirts, and Jewel especially is perfect for throwing in your hand luggage for summer holidays!

These Lenny Shorts are just so cool - I’m considering ordering the blue pair as well because the comfort is just unrivalled. They really are the best pair of shorts I’ve ever tried on, and I know I’m going to be wearing them for years to come!

I love an ankle-length dress in summer, particularly because I’m very pale and it means that I can dress for the sun without having to fake tan my legs! Dresses like this are also great for days when my fake tan is coming off and I want to conceal my mottled legs from the rest of the world, and the ditsy floral print on Finette especially helps to divert attention from the potential horrors that lie beneath.

Pretty much everything in this Dawn O’Porter collection is a dream, and I’ve been waiting for it to launch for so long just so I could order Negroni! It’s the perfect vintage mini dress shape, and I think it’s a good all-year-round dress that looks great with tights or bare legs.
