Horror films aren’t the only scary thing about Halloween - it’s also a day that creates a frightening amount of waste. Our collection of spooky season staples are inspired by the all-year-round goth gal who knows that spooky is a lifestyle, not a costume!

Fancy dress is one of the biggest offenders for single-use plastics: research suggests an estimated 2000 tonnes of plastic waste (that’s equivalent to 83 million bottles) will be generated from throwaway Halloween clothing in the UK each year. These costumes often end up in landfill, outliving the person who originally wore them.
At Joanie, we take a more circular approach to Halloween, using synthetic fibres that are both recycled and can be recycled. Our priority is to create high-quality styles that can be worn for years, so that even if you no longer wear your favourite spooky dress, you can sell it on for someone else to enjoy using our dedicated resale platform, Joanie Pre-Loved.

Drawing on gothic romance and nostalgic Halloween magic, our range of Halloween styles aren't throwaway pieces, they're wearable witchy staples made to last. Think statement collars and occult-inspired knits made from super soft, cosy yarns.
Designed to be pulled out year after year (or never put away at all!), this collection is for the forever spooky soul. Whether you're conjuring Morticia Addams' glamour or embracing the '90s soft grunge aesthetic, our new season collection offers darkly dreamy staples that will haunt your wardrobe in the best way.

An effortless wardrobe staple. Organic cotton is better for the environment than conventional cotton as it doesn’t use any harmful pesticides or fertilisers. It’s also better for workers’ health and safety, and better for people with allergies and skin conditions.

This year, we've launched an exciting new knitwear composition: 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. This is something we’ve been working hard to source, because monofibres are a lot easier to recycle than blended fibres, and, therefore, contribute to a more circular economy. Recycled polyester also allows us to achieve super soft knits that will keep you warm through the colder months! We’ve put together a guide to how to care for your synthetic knits so you can keep them looking their best.

Our super-soft, breathable organic cotton composition makes these knits perfect for layering. Evidence suggests that organic cotton has half the global warming potential of conventional cotton, and the growth of organic cotton promotes healthier soil and cleaner water due to the way it’s farmed.

In 2024, we carried out extensive research and fibre sourcing with the intention of improving the blended yarns we use across our knitwear range. By combining viscose with recycled polyester, we get the benefits of both of these fibres, including the cosy hand feel and durability.

Responsible viscose fibres are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests. The wood we use is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource. Evidence suggests that responsible viscose fibres account for at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic viscose fibres.
