Meet Nicola, Brand Assistant

Tell us about your role at Joanie - what does a typical day look like and what’s the best bit about your job?

I really enjoy the variety and how different every day looks. I organise our preloved site - sourcing stock, listing it online, and posting out any brand direct orders. I also assist the production team where needed, ranging from measuring samples to organising our mammoth archive of clothing.

Who is your style icon?

My mum! She’s the queen of preloved and has a real eye for finding timeless pieces and creating a range of great outfits with them. She’s always taught me to wear whatever makes me feel great and never to save things for best!

What are you watching or reading at the moment – do you have any recommendations?

I’m currently working my way through Yellowstone and I am loving it! Visiting Montana is definitely on the bucket list. I always have a book on the go and particularly love anything twisty by Lisa Jewell.

How would you define your personal style?

I’m all about being comfortable! But I like to add a feminine twist, too. So lots of layers and oversized but then with an added bow or frill collar. My goal this year has been to add more colour to my wardrobe and I love the all the ‘dopamine dressing’ looks we’re seeing!

Staff Picks: Nicola's Favourites

So hard to narrow this down to just five, but here is a selection of my wishlist pieces that are all available on the site at the moment.

For me, you can’t beat an oversized cardigan, and I adore the colourful print on this one. Great for adding a bit of colour to a neutral outfit and snuggling up when it’s chilly.

I love how this is a real transitional piece. Perfect to layer with a blouse and tights in winter, but then great with just a tee in summer!

I love how summery this is! Perfect to wear with sandals and a straw bag. It gives me ‘picnic in the countryside’ vibes. Again, it’s perfect for layering with a tee on cooler days.

The beautiful jewel green, the drapey sleeves, the pockets… need I say any more? Heart eyes all round.

I’d love to wear these trousers paired with the matching blazer (bonus sixth item there!) to a wedding as an alternative to a dress. And I love that they can be also styled more casually with an oversized neutral knit, so they can be worn again and again!
