What is World Book Day?
World Book Day is a charity that promotes reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Created by UNESCO in 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, the first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading.
We’re thrilled to have partnered with World Book Day this year. This fantastic charity encourages and enables children, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to experience the joy of reading – something we’re incredibly passionate about at Joanie. Our love of literature has inspired many of our designs over the years and we know that our Joanie Gals love to get involved in World Book Day, making this a perfect collaboration that supports an excellent cause!

Reading For Pleasure
Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success - more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background, or their income. World Book Day wants to ensure more children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, fall in love with reading, promoting the life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings.
We are thrilled to be collaborating with Joanie on this stylish and exciting new partnership. Now you can wear and share your love of books – and help others do the same. Joanie’s generous support will help us reach more children and help them grow up with the joy and life-changing benefits of reading.
