To celebrate the launch of the third Dawn O’Porter X Joanie collection, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our recent shoot with Dawn in Los Angeles!

The third DOP X Joanie collection is here, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share this brand-new range designed in partnership with author, broadcaster, and Choose Love co-founder Dawn O’Porter with you.

This limited release features styles inspired by some of Dawn’s favourite bygone eras and vintage pieces from her own collection, from retro flared jumpsuits to cosy oversized printed cardigans and some seriously seventies dresses.

This collection gets us back to the very basis of my relationship with Joanie: making exceptional, '70s-style dresses in a range of sizes and bonkers prints. These dresses bring vintage styles to everyone.

The new DOP X Joanie range is full of retro styles inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, including vintage-inspired prints on bestselling silhouettes from previous collections as well as some completely new shapes and styles.

In keeping with the previous two releases, the styles in our third collection with Dawn feature names inspired by some of her favourite cocktails, from the bestselling Sunrise Dress (back and better than ever in two exclusive vintage-inspired prints) to brand-new styles like the Sunset Jumpsuit that lets you wear your love of a good tipple on your sleeves!

We shot the collection in Los Angeles, California (where Dawn lives) in an incredibly cool location house with decor straight out of the 1970s. Complete with vintage artwork, furniture, and even a retro poolside patio, we couldn’t have wished for a better place to shoot the collection, and we’re so pleased with how well the photography turned out!

I know that most people don’t want to spend hours trawling in vintage shops like I do, so I’ve taken the best of my archive and made them into wearable and totally unique dresses that can be enjoyed by everyone. These dresses make a statement while also being comfortable enough to wear day-to-day. I live in mine, and just know you’ll love yours too.

They say it never rains in Southern California, and if that’s true, then we definitely brought the Mancunian weather across the pond with us! Luckily we had planned to do most of the shoot inside, so even the surprising weather conditions didn’t put a dampener on the proceedings.

It's been a joy to bring these designs to life with Dawn and to share them with you, our Joanie Gals - we hope you love wearing them as much as we loved working on them!
