Horrockses Fashions X Joanie

We've collaborated with Horrockses Fashions, a vintage brand known for their kitsch and unusual 1940s and 1950s printed cotton dresses! Horrockses Fashions was established as an offshoot of the 18th-century Preston-based cotton manufacturer Horrockses, Crewdson & Co Ltd, in 1946, initially to promote their quality cotton goods to a broader market. They released their first collection in the same year, with dresses priced between two and a half and three guineas, the equivalent of about a weeks’ wage for many people at the time. The range was a huge success, with fans of the brand including celebrities, actresses, and even royalty!

Horrockses Fashions ceased trading as a label in 1983, but that’s not to say that interest in the brand ceased, too. On the vintage market, Horrockses dresses are highly sought after because of their unique designs and superior quality.

The Horrockses X Joanie range of organic cotton dresses is full of 1950s silhouettes inspired by our favourite Horrockses designs from the archive, as well as some classic Joanie shapes! When creating this range, we sought to make modern heirlooms that will be cherished and handed down, just like the originals.
