As much as I appreciate the warmer months, Autumn and Winter is my favourite time of year; I love the cosiness and warmth of big jumpers and gingerbread lattes. But the best part of these colder months has to be wrapping myself up in a fluffy blanket on the sofa with a good book! So here’s a list of some of the books I recommend for the Autumn and Winter seasons.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

Stephen King does horror like no one else and in all honestly, you could probably read any one of this novels and be a little spooked. I absolutely loved reading Pet Sematary in the run up to Halloween this year; it is so creepy and terrifying. Amongst the absolute horror though, is a story of a man who will stop at nothing to protect the people that he loves.

The Deal of a Lifetime by Fredrik Backman

During the summer I read Beartown by Fredrick Backman, and he stole my heart as an author! I absolutely love his work and The Deal of a Lifetime is no exception. This little novella about life, regret and sacrifice may be short but it sure packs a punch!

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Shirley Jackson is a master of terror; she can create an eerie atmosphere and a slow-build of dread like nobody’s business! The Haunting of Hill House is scary but not in the obvious blood and gore way. I’m not surprised it’s been adapted into both a movie (twice!) and a Netflix TV series (which is also brilliant and I definitely recommend too).

We Are Okay by Nina LaCour

We Are Okay is a wonderful book! More than just a Young Adult story, this powerful story set at Christmas-time is about loss, grief, love, betrayal and everything in between.

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

Okay, so I haven’t actually read this one yet but it’s the first book on my December reading list and I am so excited. Is there anything cosier than a wintery fantasy novel?! I don’t think so!
