Eliot, this literary institution is one of the most famous bookshops in the world! The shop’s founder, Sylvia Beach first published James Joyce’s Ulysses through the shop that is now home to one of the largest selections of English language books in Paris! Café de Flore

What? The perfect stop for your morning coffee! Café de Flore is one of the oldest coffee shops in Paris and one of the most famous literary hangouts in all of Europe. During the first half of the 20th century, Café de Flore was the coffeehouse of Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Albert Camus.

Père Lachaise Cemetery

When? Weekdays 8am to 6pm and weekends from 9am to 6pm

What? The most visited cemetery in the world is home to the graves of literary royalty including Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust and Charles Baudelaire. With over 3.5 million visitors annually, Oscar Wilde’s grave is so popular that a fence now surrounds it and the hundreds of tributes placed around it. Spend an afternoon exploring Père Lachaise, especially in autumn when the leaves are bright oranges and reds! 

Les Bouquinistes

Where? Along both banks of the Seine, roughly from Notre-Dame to the Louvre

When? 10am to 6pm and 1pm to 6pm on Sundays

What? Les Bouquinistes literally translates as 'the second-hand booksellers'. They’ve been selling books on the banks of the Seine since the 16th century and are probably the most famous booksellers in the world! Home to hundreds and thousands of used and rare editions, first editions and manuscripts, as well as souvenirs, posters, maps and postcards, it’s easy to lose an afternoon browsing the famous green stalls - especially if the sun is out and the sky is blue! Now recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site, the long line of painted green stands is an iconic Parisian sight!
