Enjoy a Mediterranean Gin and Tonic Cocktail recipe from vintage blogger Old Fashioned Susie, the perfect pick me up for any gin loving Joanie Gal...

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love that Back To School feeling plus it’s my birthday (go Team Virgo!) but it doesn't stop me thinking about the summer that’s been or in fact dreaming of summer holidays to come. Here is one way to get that holiday feeling without getting on a plane. This is a Mediterranean Gin & Tonic Cocktail recipe that will transport you to lazy summer evenings on the continent...

Gin & Tonic is probably my favorite drink, aside from tea of course, because it is so refreshing and really versatile. Depending on what gin you use and what garnishes you combine it with it can be fragrant or punchy, dry or spicey! The world of gin is vast and flavourful, believe me. This version of the G&T is my current “go to” and I think you’ll love it too.

Suzies Gin and Tonic Cocktail Recipe

Imagine walking through the winding cobbled streets of a town on the Italian Riviera, this Mediterranean Gin & Tonic Cocktail will transport you there through the botanicals within!

You will need;

  • Gin 50ml (I used Malfy Gin as it is Italian and super lemony)
  • Tonic (if you are pushing the boat out definitely go for Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water)
  • Ice (Han Solo ice cubes optional)
  • Lemon- unwaxed please!
  • A few sprigs of Rosemary (washed and dried)
  • Some pretty vintage (Italian if poss!) glassware

Load up the glasses with ice and with a knife carefully peel a long strip from the lemon. Add the the glass then pour over your gin and tonic. Then use the Rosemary as garnish, add a couple of sprigs to each glass. Now by all means use a straw but, to get the full Mediterranean sensation, you need to put that straw down and let your nose by tickled by the sprigs of the rosemary.

Putting your mouth and nose to this glass will really envelop you with the lemon and rosemary botanicals and the scent is just like being in Italy, in the sunshine. Just close your eyes I promise!
